The Baddest Villainess Is Back - Chapter 118
Gerun shook his head.
“If they still won’t talk despite all this pressure… they really don’t know, or they’ve been silenced properly,” Gerun said.
Roxelyn pursed her lips and then slowly nodded.
As he briefed others about what he had discovered, she silently turned her head, lost in thought.
‘He’s tougher than I thought.’
Indeed, that made sense.
According to the ‘King’, ‘Makruxa’ was a group founded for a single purpose.
‘Ugh, what a headache.’
Roxelyn rubbed her forehead and then, as the atmosphere warmed up, she quietly got up.
There was someone she wanted to talk to here.
“Where are you going, Roxelyn?”
“Iām going to see the Marchioness.”
“I’ll come with you.”
“No, I want to go alone. Stay here.”
Roxelyn dissuaded Arma from coming with her and slowly walked down the corridor.
Roxelyn had stayed in Gerun’s house in her original world, so the house was not unfamiliar to her, and it was not hard to find her way.
She even knew approximately where the basement was, where Gerun had interrogated the two men, including the priest.
Leisurely walking, Roxelyn headed towards the lady’s room and knocked on the door.
Knock, knock.Ā
After politely knocking a couple of times, the door opened.
“Hello.”
“ā¦You are.”
“Nice to meet you, Lady. I am Roxelyn Bellion of the Bellion Ducal family.”
“ā¦Ah, I know.”
A beautiful woman with hair as blue as flowing river water, quickly hid her flustered expression and welcomed Roxelyn.
“ā¦I heard you came because of the case you are investigating.”
Roxelyn recalled the Marchioness, who always used to walk silently behind or beside Gerun, shutting her mouth and shrinking at social events.
“If it’s alright with you, may I have a cup of tea?”
At Roxelyn’s words, the Marchioness looked at her for a moment, then smiled faintly and nodded.
“Yes, Iād like that. I’ve been wanting to thank you anyway.”
The Marchioness said as she lightly brushed aside her aqua-colored hair.
Roxelyn paused when she noticed the hidden RosƩ diamond earrings beneath her long hair.
“This way.”
The place the Marchioness led Roxelyn to was a small drawing room. Roxelyn looked down at the tea being offered and began to speak.
“Given the unpleasant rumors circulating about me and Marquis Gerun, I thought it necessary to talk about it at least once.”
Upon hearing this, the Marchioness’s eyes widened slightly in surprise, and then she smiled faintly, shaking her head.
“I don’t doubt that. I’ve never had such suspicions, and I’ve already heard his explanation. If it were true… he would be the one to blame.”
“Yes, but I thought it morally right to speak to you.”
Roxelyn added.
“For the record, I am someone who doesn’t care whether Marquis Gerun lives or dies. Whether he’s shot in the street or burns to ashes in a fire.”
“ā¦Ah.”
Taken aback by the unexpectedly harsh words, the Marchioness’s eyes rounded in shock.
“Anyway, I wanted to say that you don’t need to doubt anything.”
“ā¦Yes, I believe you.”
She looked at Roxelyn with a slightly awkward expression.
“Do you dislike him that much?”
“Yes.”
“ā¦Hmm.”
The Marchioness remembered Gerun’s desire to make this child his daughter and looked at her with a pained expression.
“I heard you saved the Marquis. That you jumped in to rescue him from a deadly fireā¦”
“ā¦Did Gerun, I mean, did Marquis Gerun tell you that?”
“Yes, is that not the caseā¦?”
“ā¦No. I guess I did rush into the room and dragged him out.”
Roxelyn stated flatly, suppressing her absurdity.
“ā¦The Marquis also suffered burns and has had a hard time with anything hot since then.”
“Ahā¦ Gerun has a hard time with heat.”
“Yes, thank you for your help.”
As the Marchioness bowed politely, Roxelyn struggled to hide her indifferent expression and spoke.
“ā¦Oh, you’re welcome.”
Thinking that sly man really throws a fit to get attention, Roxelyn just smiled prettily.
