The Baddest Villainess Is Back - Chapter 129

āIt hurts, itās hotā¦ā
Her whole body felt burning hot.
Although it seemed her bound wrists were freed, the pain in her wrists persisted.
Roxelyn groaned in pain.
She had a high tolerance for pain and was quite resilient, but that didnāt mean she couldnāt feel anything.
Her head hurt.
It was so hot that even her breaths were painful.
Was this what it feels like to be in the flames of hell?
“ā¦Then why isnāt it coming down?”
The voice echoed.
Feeling like she was underwater, she slowly opened her eyes.
Her vision was blurry.
“Thatās the best effortā¦ Oh, Miss Roxelyn, are you awake?”
Roxelyn reflexively recoiled at the unfamiliar voice.
āWho is it?ā
She felt hot, as if she were burning up, and for some reason, her eyes were stinging.
“Roxelyn, are you conscious?”
The voice was quite familiar.
Familiar, but somehow it sounded much younger than she remembered.
āā¦Am I dead?ā
Roxelyn mouthed the words.
āIs the fever back?ā
Her mind wasnāt functioning well, but she could tell something was wrong with her body.
“Ahā¦”
Her voice was hoarse and barely audible.
“Ahā¦”
“Roxelyn, are you alright? Speak to me.”
“Fathew, Iā¦”
In that moment, Zertiās eyes widened as he looked down at her.
“It huwts, please cawwy meā¦”
Roxelyn, who had never acted childishly, hesitated as she lifted her trembling arms.
āā¦A child’s hands?ā
The hand that moved at her will looked like it belonged to a child of about six or seven years old.
In other words, it was her hand, but it looked very small.
āā¦Have I finally gone mad?ā
Roxelyn thought in her dazed state before falling back asleep.
* * *
She had suddenly become a child.
Roxelyn couldnāt tell if she should be happy or sad about her current situation, which could be summed up in one sentence.
What was there to be unclear about?
Of course, she wasnāt happy or sad. She was just bewildered and flabbergasted.
“ā¦I must have gone mad.”
Roxelyn muttered, frowning.
Though her speech was slightly off due to her short tongue, she was glad she could still talk.
Her head was hot and foggy.
Roxelyn leaned against the headboard of the bed, taking deep breaths to regain her composure.
Despite the absurdity of it all, her mind was strangely calm.
She had visited a parallel world once, and she had an Abyss that allowed her to live another life.
āWhy did I end up here?ā
Roxelyn wondered.
There were three possibilities she could think of.
First, she had escaped the kidnapping but fainted and died, crossing over to another parallel world.
Second, she had gone mad or was dreaming.
Third, it was related to her Abyss.
All three were plausible, so she couldnāt immediately pinpoint the exact reason.
āThe third possibility seems the most likely.ā
Roxelyn exhaled a hot breath as she crawled towards the edge of the bed.
The bed was high, and her small stature made it necessary to hold onto the bed sheets to climb down.
āIt was like this when I was young.ā
Often ill, she was smaller and weaker than her peers, to the point where she struggled to lift a silver utensil.
Roxelyn dragged the neatly arranged blanket from the bed and slid down using it like a slide.
She stood in front of the full-length mirror on one side of the room.
Her pale cheeks, having not seen the sunlight, were flushed red, losing their color.
Her cheeks were sunken, and her eyes looked hollow from the illness, prompting a sigh from her.
Roxelyn raised a hand and pinched her cheek hard. It hurt enough to bring tears to her eyes.
