The Reward for Saving The World is a Husband - Chapter 2
Feeling utterly exhausted, I forcibly closed my tired eyes. My limbs felt like they weighed a ton.
If I fell asleep now, what were the chances of waking up again? And even if I did wake up, what were the chances my limbs would function properly?
‘I wish I could dream, at least. A dream where I’m eating something delicious.’
Together with everyone.
I wanted to have a happy dream where I was sitting around a table with my friends, gorging myself on perfectly good, unmedicated meat.
We’d talk about the things we regretted, and I’d finally let out the tender feelings I’d been hiding behind my tough exterior.
Then I realized I’d be lucky if I didn’t fall into a deep sleep and never wake up.
Given my near-deadened sense of pain, it was clear my injuries were severe. My clothes stuck to me, and the dizziness suggested significant blood loss.
So, this wasn’t just a groundless hope.
“Farewell, shitty world.”
With that thought, I let go of my consciousness.
Looking forward to meeting the people I missed.
But then…
“Esh hee. (Hey there.)”
Had I fallen asleep at some point?
As my consciousness drifted in a daze, unable to discern dream from reality, someone’s voice suddenly flowed into my ears.
“Caroa va shita. (Come to your senses.)”
I was certain this was a stranger. The reason was simple: The voice was very sweet, with a resonant bass tone. If I had heard it before, I would never have forgotten it.
“Hia to we? Vire ta waeydo loocksa be roo. (Who are you? Tell me how you got here.)”
Despite the interrogative tone, it wasn’t unpleasant to listen to.
Overcome with curiosity, I opened my eyes, and there was…
A modified translucent window floated before me.
And beyond that, stood a man whose appearance was as mesmerizing, if not more, than his sweet voice.
‘Rewards…?’
The man’s hair was ash black.
Beneath the disheveled locks that fell over his forehead, he had deep blue eyes, a straight nose, and a sharp jawline that gave him a somewhat cool aura.
Alternating my gaze between the notification of the reward and the man’s face, I eventually looked around.
As this was the final quest determining the fate of the world, I expected to see something significant.
No weapons, armor, accessories, not even the elixirs or consumable items I had secretly hoped for.
The only thing that seemed out of the ordinary was the presence in front of me.
“No way, this guy?
That thought inevitably occupied my mind.
“Garow hechimo rooa da quia? (What is your relation to the owner of this domain?)”
I had been intently observing the man who kept asking me questions.
I hadn’t noticed before because of his handsome face, but the man’s physique was almost as big as my last companion who had turned to ash.
It was fortunate that he didn’t appear frail. Whether a summoned creature or something else, being inherently strong was generally better.
‘But this guy… he’s human.’
No matter how I looked at him, he didn’t seem to be a spirit or a summoned creature.
‘So, is this what is known as a “Pair”?’
In my world, a ‘Pair’ typically referred to a special bond formed between two people, especially between a man and a woman. It was perplexing to receive just one man as a reward in a world that had perished, but I wasn’t too upset about it. I had always wanted a ‘Pair’ for myself.
‘It seemed very appealing.’
Even when mixed in a group, pairs only seemed to care for each other, exchanging long gazes and sticking together as if they were one. I had always envied that.
Moreover, they…
It wasn’t just about being together; they brought productivity and hope to the group.
‘I need to communicate first.’
I opened my inventory and pulled out an earring with a translation feature. The man’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. It seemed the sudden appearance of something out of thin air had startled him.
“Hello?”
After putting on the earring, I made sure to speak as gently as possible, trying not to ruin the first impression.
“Have you come to create a child with me?”
