The Reward for Saving The World is a Husband - Chapter 6
“I have a few questions. Even if it’s painful to recall, can you answer them honestly?”
I nodded eagerly.
“Alright. I’ll tell you whatever I know.”
Having been fed to this extent, I was ready to provide a detailed explanation on how to defeat the Demon Dragon Ermitar, if necessary.
“What’s your name?”
“I’m CODE NO.124. Number one hundred and twenty-four, or you can just call me ‘Illisa.*'”
(T/N: The name that she gives Elias is Illisa, which is il – i – sa (read as il-ee-sah). This is the romanization of the numbers 124. Elias mispronounces it in the exchange that follows:)
“Elesha?”
“Illisa.”
He stared intently at her lips as she corrected him, then slowly tilted his head and pronounced each syllable.
“El, E, Sha.*”
(T/N: I’ll be sticking to this version of the character’s name for the rest of the story, but will switch to the name she provides to Elias when necessary.)
“Um… sure, let’s say it’s that.”
It seemed irrelevant whether he called me this way or that. After all, it wasn’t a name given by my parents but just a number assigned by the laboratory.
Besides, the way his lips moved when he pronounced ‘Sha’ was rather cute, and I found myself wanting to see it again.
“So then, Elesha.”
After repeating her name to himself a few times, Elias asked another question.
“How did you end up in the dragon’s lair?”
“To kill it.”
“..…?”
“.…?”
I gazed back at him, puzzled, as he looked at me with a questioning expression. Then, I returned the question.
“And what about you? Why were you there? Did you receive a quest?”
“Quest? If you mean was I requested by someone, it’s somewhat similar. A divine oracle was given.”
A divine oracle… It seemed this world still had those who worshiped gods.
“Can you tell me what the oracle was about?”
He pondered my question for a while, then shook his head, looking troubled.
“No.”
Then he quickly added,
“I can’t fully trust you yet.”
“Fair enough, I understand.”
His caution was justified. Who wouldn’t be wary of someone who had even defeated the Demon Dragon Ermitar?
Moreover, based on the message that had appeared earlier, there was no one in this world with a higher level than mine.
‘Of course, level isn’t the absolute measure of strength.’
Regardless, perfect trust between pairs was a prerequisite, so I needed to be honest with him.
“Hey, do you happen to know the dragon’s name?”
As I pondered how I could have crossed into another world, it struck me that the dragon might not have been a being from our world to begin with.
Perhaps I was swept along as the soul of the creature that could traverse dimensions was returning to its original world.
And if my assumption was correct…
“Ermitar.”
It was natural that the name used in our world and this one would match.
“As I thought.”
Nodding, I grabbed his arm, pulling him towards me.
“I succeeded in killing it.”
“…..!”
As our eyes met closely, I pulled up a surge of mana and transmitted my memories to him.
Although I only transmitted a crucial minute or so, deeming it long enough to prove my point.
He remained frozen in a daze even after the transmission was complete.
Then, he jerked back in alarm.
“What did you just do to me? Are you a witch? Not only do you pull objects out of thin air, but now illusions too…”
“It’s not an illusion. And I’m not a witch.”
Given that being a witch wasn’t exactly a revered profession in our world, my tone became reflexively sharp.
“If you don’t believe me, I’ll show you. That is, if there’s another dragon in this world.”
